Happy Passover to all my family and friends who are celebrating this holiday of Freedom.
We got all of our work done yesterday. and even though it was exhausting, it is still very satisfying that it's all done.
We picked up Frank at the airport without incident yesterday, stopped at a few stores looking for parve margarine, which we finally found at the third store, got gas, and went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. Despite eating Chinese food for dinner, I am down half a pound this morning. With the seder tonight, I'm sure I'll be back up that and more tomorrow morning.
Tonight we are going to do the plague foods again, although six of them are different this year from last year. Last year we bought a plague kit that had a candy for each one. Everybody had a good time. This year we wanted to do it again, but we didn't think of it until too late to order one because they were all sold out. Instead, we tried to come up with things on our own that we could buy at the store. Here's what we have:
Blood: cherry applesauce. It's RED!
Frogs: chocolate frogs that I made myself last night using a candy mold. They look great.
Lice: mini-marshmallows. Hey, they're small and white.
Wild Beasts: gummy bears
Pestilence: chopped liver on matzoh crackers. We are calling it liver disease!
Hail: lemon ice pops
Locusts: small gherkin pickles with toothpicks stuck in for legs.
Darkness: dark chocolate squares
Death of the Firstborn: cherry preserves. That was what came in the kit last year. We are guessing because it's red.
The only things that we were able to do that were the same as last year were the hail, darkness, and death of the firstborn. All the others we had to get very creative about, but I think everyone is going to love it.
Tomorrow afternoon I'll post some pictures from tonight.
Enjoy your seder tonight.
Waiting your photos on the next post's.
