This is Mark. I got off the phone with Becky a few minutes ago. She enjoyed all the emails, facebook, and blog comments I read her. Thank you all very much for taking the time to give us that kind of support!!!!!
The doctor at the hospital confirmed that they will be keeping her through the weekend. So, I do not expect her back before Monday at the earliest. Also, while the doctor at the Cancer center told me that it is extremely unlikely I could have caught Becky's C Diff infection, the doctors at the Cancer ward have an entirely different view. They told Becky to tell me to scrub all surfaces here in her sister's house with bleach, which I did this morning. Also, between her low white blood cell count, and the Cancer ward doctor's view that C Diff can survive on surfaces for days, I now have to wear gloves, a mask, and a gown when I go to visit. Also, I can not bring in fresh fruit or flowers.
Unless something comes up, I will probably not post till Monday.
I am glad that they are being careful with you too Mark. Take care of yourself and tell Becky that I will be thinking of you both. Hopefully easier times will be coming soon for both of you.
ReplyDeleteUy uy yuy.... What an ordeal but it will get better soon.
ReplyDeleteBecky, we are about to leave for our maj weekend in Williamsburg and will think of you all weekend.
Lets hope the infections all go away forever and you will feel better soon.
Mark, hang in there and shabbat shalom
Love ya,
Annie
We'll keep up with the journal ... now I'm afraid to even sneeze at the keyboard, lest I spread an infection! Times will be easier and better.
ReplyDeleteOh Mark and Becky, wow! Hang in there dear friends and know that we are with you. Saul's dad came back into the ER yesterday, but he is doing better and in the hospital, possibly just for observation. We will be going there this afternoon to see. Seems like it's always something, doesn't it? Lots of love being sent your way....
ReplyDeleteBecky and Mark,
ReplyDeleteMy heart just goes out to the both of you. I don't really know anything about the infections you are going through but I know that I am praying for you to get better and that this kind of thing stops happening to you. I can certainly imagine how disheartening this is Becky but, you will get well and put this behind you. If prayers can help heal you, there are those in abundance.
Since I am just ahead of you in our treatment plan, you had asked me to post about the Taxol. I will post a new thread at our page online but wanted to tell you here that the first Taxol went like a breeze. I had it Thursday but alas and alack on Friday, I had to have 2 units of whole red blood at the Infusion Dept. at my hospital, because my RBC's had taken a nosedive since my last A-C treatment 2 weeks ago. The Taxol DID NOT cause this. My Oncologist told me on Thursday before they started the Taxol that I was anemic and needed the transfusions. It went smoothly. As for SE's from the Taxol, Becky, there aren't any other then the being tired and sleepy from the Benadryl (because my Oncologist pre-treats before a blood transfusion with Benadryl too so I had pretty good doses of it 2 days in a row). No nausea, no anything. If it continues like this, Taxol will be more then doable. I know the neuropathy will set in but not having the other SE's will be nice. They didn't even prescribe any sick/nausea meds as they said I wouldn't need them. I pray you have just as good a luck once you are on it.
Take care. I send love and prayers in bushel baskets and I'm thankful you have Mark. He sounds a lot like my Lynn, who is my rock and is there for everything.
Love,
Juanita
I haven't been reading the blog for a while because I've been so busy with work. I'm so sorry to hear that you are in the hospital again. I hope the new antibiotics do their job without causing more problems. Hope Mark takes care of himself, too. Sending lots of prayers and a big hug.
ReplyDeleteLove, Nadine
