Prescott to Camp Verde, AZ

I don't usually write blogs at night, but I didn't have time this morning.  I don't think I'll have time tomorrow morning either.

On Wednesday we explored the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg and then took off for Prescott.  That drive was a little like going over the Tioga Pass in Yosemite.  Not quite as high, but just as twisty and scenic.  We checked into the historic Hassayampa Inn, where the likes of Tom Mix, Joan Rivers, Clark Gable, and John Wayne have stayed.  We saw another of the 53 Must See statues listed in the True West Magazine and then stopped in the Palace Saloon for our first of four drinks.  That might have been a mistake.  We are not usually bar-hoppers.  We have decided that is not for people in their 60s on multiple meds!  LOL!

Today we went to two museums in Prescott and then took another scenic drive over the mountains to the funky artist community of Jerome before heading into the Super 8 in Camp Verde for the night.

Enjoy a few pictures from the last two days.

Speaking to the docent in the museum in Wickenburg.

Pictures were not allowed in most of this museum, which is too bad.  It was full of wonderful bronzes and watercolors of western life.

The Gold Nugget restaurant in Wickenburg is very famous!

A piggy for Cindy.

Mark is trying to take this girl away from the cowboy.

Then I guess I get the cowboy.

A Crown Royal on the rocks in the Palace Saloon on Whiskey Row.
On Thursday, we visited this museum first, a complex of nine buildings.

On the porch of the territorial governor's mansion.

Mark said he was sure he could cook just fine on this stove in the rancher's cabin.

No pictures allowed in here either, but Mark bought me a beautiful necklace.

Crossing the mountains to Jerome

Why is he always reading about prostitutes?

So majestic

My new necklace that Mark got me in the Phippen Museum gift shop in Prescott. It's turquoise with a silver saguaro.

Mark's new copper and silver bolo tie that I bought him in the gift shop in Jerome.

He bought himself the new belt buckle.

He's looking good.
